8 Months!

You know the 10th of the month couldn't go by without Eli letting you know! Yes, that's right, my baby is 8 months old!

It's amazing how time flies! I know, I know, I say that every month, but still...

At this point in his life he can roll over, sit on his own, stand with lots of help :), say many fun 'words' (including a new one today-zazaza...or maybe sasasa...), clap his hands, and many other super interesting things. He also has three teeth with another one on his way, and can eat everything I've given him, though he gags when given egg whites. I'm pretty sure his favorite foods are carrots and bananas, or maybe apples...or peaches...or sweet potatoes...okay, I really have no idea, but I like to think I know his favorites. He's still stuck on Baby Beethoven, and won't watch any other Baby Einstein movies. Edgar and I are hoping he likes Handy Manny because we were totally entertained when we watched it last Saturday...though he doesn't seem too interested...yet. He loves watching Uncle Ryan sing "Beat It" while playing guitar hero, and really, who wouldn't?

He just got an 'exo-saucer' (no idea how to spell that) from our neighbor. It's on loan from her until he grows out of it, which, sad to say, might be sooner than later (just moved him up to 18 month clothes!! Well..he's still in 12 month pants). He loved playing in it today, and stayed completely entertained for 45 minutes while mommy played with pictures on Photoshop. Hmmm...seems like mommy was trying to avoid cleaning the bathroom... He's getting so much better with his hands, and can pick up anything that's not too heavy...which really drives home the fact that I need to vacuum more, because he loves small things.

That's about all for now. I need to head to bed. The past 8 months have made me tired...

Rays Win!

Today Edgar took the day off work and we headed for 'The Trop' to watch the Rays play. It was the first (of many) baseball games for Eli. He did terrific. He was so good the whole time. He loved looking around at all the 'sights'.

Oh yeah...there was a game too. I found myself barely watching the game-Eli was so entertaining!

At about the 4th inning we went for a little walk. We were looking for Raymond, but all we found was 'Bubba Gump Shrimp'...

We got back in time for the 7th inning stretch when they experienced a power outage...funny how the screen still works in a power outage...It was okay, though, because they played 'Bugs Bunny' and all were entertained.

Eli took a little nap (about 30 min.) and watched the rest of the game.

One unexpected thing we got to do was run the bases. Edgar took Eli around for his first (again, of many) trip around the bases. Who knows...maybe one day he'll be runnin' them for real!

We had a GREAT day. We loved being there, and it was so fun to see how well Eli did. Now we know we can go often :)

The trip home was less than thrilling, however. It took us 2 hours...(That included a 15 minute break where I fed Eli) Eli was getting a little restless, but he hung in there. Now he's sleeping, dreaming of baseball, I'm sure...

Nothin' much

What have I been up to? Well...I've been baking...which means I've been eating...a lot :( Unfortunately I have not been exercising to make up for all the eating, so I've been expanding as well. Oh well...there's always next week, right?! (notice how I didn't say tomorrow...)
This was one of my baking projects. I made petit fours the other day for a mommy group gathering thing. They were good, though a little messy. (I got the idea from one of my favorite blogs) I don't think I added enough powdered sugar, and the icing wasn't as stiff as I would have liked. Oh well. They got eaten. I also made cupcakes for Miggy's birthday, which you can read about here. I snagged a couple of those, but fortunately left the rest for them. I don't think Edgar and I can have any more sweets for a while...well...except for my ice cream cone every night after supper...

Don't you just love how Eli has this whole big crib, yet chooses to sleep all snuggled up in the corner? He's the best. I was just looking through my journal today reading entries from when I was pregnant. It was kind of funny...all the things I was so worried about. God has truly blessed us with an amazing son. Edgar and I talk all the time about how easy it has been with him! Even yesterday when he was throwing up (again Ryan, sorry 'bout that) he was happy-in between 'episodes'. (No need to worry, he was fine. Pretty sure it was just a teething 'thing.' No fever, no 'illness'...just a whole lot of spit he needed to expel :) )

Tomorrow he gets to go to his first baseball game. We're so excited! He's been practicing clapping all day :) GO RAYS! (Unless the Tiger's are in town, of course)

Happy Independence Day!

Today we got together with some family and celebrated the 4th. We headed over to Eric & Leilani's pool around noon and swam for a while.
Eli did so good. This was his third time in a pool, and seems to like it more and more. He played in his little seat for just over an hour and never cried once.

Katie impressed us all with her ability to swim. She's been taking 'survival swimming lessons' which, from what I understand, teaches them to swim to the edge of a pool, and how to flip over and float on their back. She was a bit timid with everyone around, but Krista finally convinced her to swim once for us.

After swimming we loaded up the car and headed over to Eliott & Krista's house. I sat in the back with Eli so that he wouldn't fall asleep, and couldn't resist taking a picture of his sunscreen lathered hair standing on end.

We ordered pizza and the guys played the Wii while the girls chatted. Then we decided to play monopoly.

It was the 'Star Wars' version of Monopoly. Same game, different pieces. We had fun, but ran out of time to finish the game. Ya know...I think I've only ever finished an entire game of Monopoly once...

While we played, Eli found things to entertain himself. He loves my Nalgene bottle :)

He also loves it when daddy reads to him. Eli got tired of the board game, so Edgar took him into the sun room and played with him while we finished up.

We took a 'just the kids' photo...well...we actually took several, but I thought this one came out the best :)

And then, of course, you have to have the silly one...

We headed for home shortly after 7, put Eli to bed, and now Edgar and I are sitting on the couch watching Star Wars. Oh the irony...

A Day at the Aquarium

Today Edgar had the day off, so we headed to the Florida Aquarium. We thought it would be fun for us, and thought Eli might like looking at all the fish-and we were right! He seemed to have a great time. The happy family

Eli was carried most of the day. We had him in the stroller for a bit, but he seemed to want to be right where the action was.

We went to a penguin show for a few minutes, and got up really close to one-this is not zoomed in!

Eli did pass out for about 45 minutes, but was awake for most of it.

We had a really nice time. We were SO glad we went at 9:30 right when it opened. By the time we left at noon, it was PACKED. We look forward to many more trips there in the future!

An unwelcome visitor

Remember when I said I would post today if anything interesting happened? Remember how I said it only had to be interesting to ME? Consider yourself warned.
Today I was minding my own business, taking a shower, when I saw something out of the corner of my eye. I saw this: I quickly jumped out of the shower (btw, not because I am AFRAID of lizards, but because it startled me...and I really didn't want it to crawl on me)

Yes, under a cup. I am debating whether to wait until Edgar gets home and let him take care of it, or to just suck it up and take care of it myself.

I wonder if I could slip a spatula under that cup...

I've never been more tempted to invite Cassidy & Elphaba over...but then I would have cats in the house...I'd rather have lizards.
