This and That

This is just a 'belly update' :) I continue to get bigger and bigger, and Eli continues to move more and more. I'm convinced he's gonna be a gymnast with all the movin' around he does. He mostly moves early in the morning and in the evenings. It's pretty fun to watch him move--because I can see my belly move :)

Edgar and I went to a pool party on Saturday, and I made this cake--I thought it turned out really pretty, so I thought I'd put it online. It's a pound cake cut in three layers with a cheesecake filling between each layer topped with strawberries and kiwis. It was very fun to make, and not too terribly challenging. The good news is that it tasted really good too :)

Today we are getting some stuff done around the house...I have a bunch of stuff to do on eBay, and Edgar is painting Eli's room (hence the 'before' picture of his room) I've been trying to get rid of some BeautiControl stock, and have been selling it on eBay. So far most of it has sold, but now I

have to package it all up mail it. I'm not makin' much money, but at least it is getting out of the house, right?! Tomorrow Edgar doesn't have to work, so hopefully we will be able to get some additional stuff done around the house. I'm suddenly realizing that 10 weeks isn't really that long...

Course 2 Final Cake

So I just finished the final class of my second cake decorating class, and here is the finished product. We have been making all the different flowers throughout the course (4 weeks) and this week we learned how to do the basket weave and the border, and then we put all the flowers on we had made. It was very fun. I am going to try and take one more class before Eli comes. It starts in 2 weeks. This class we learn how to do tiered cakes, and we learn some more flowers--like lilies and poinsettias. It should be fun. I have a good time decorating stuff, though I'm not all that creative--I have to have something to guide me, but it turns out good in the end :) There are a lot of cute websites that have great ideas. Hopefully I can do some fun stuff at Christmas...we'll see.

My Latest Endeavor...

As some of you know, I am currently going to cake decorating classes, and this class we are learning to make all sorts of different kinds of flowers...so Krista (my sister-in-law) told me about this site (etsy.com) where you can sell handmade crafts...so here goes nothing! I've decided to try and sell a few of these flowers online. They are made of icing that gets really hard--it's a lot like those sugar candy things you can buy in the store to put on cakes. Anyway, I am going to start by selling them 12 for $6.00, and see how that goes. They are pretty easy to make, and I spent the afternoon making daisies, apple blossoms, primroses, violets, chrysanthemums (I feel like Anne Shirley when I try and spell that...) and drop flowers. It was fun, but I'm pretty sick of icing right now.

If you would like some, I'd be happy to send them to you :) (family gets the 'just pay for shipping' discount :) ) I decided if these don't sell I'll just make some really cute cupcakes. The nice thing is, these last for a year if you keep them in a cool, dry place...so they shouldn't go bad.

Anyway...I putting a couple other pictures on, and then I really need to clean up the disaster I have in the kitchen before Edgar gets home!

A Day at the Beach

This past weekend Edgar and I had the chance to spend some time with his parents at the beach. (Sorry, no pictures...I accidentally left the camera in Edgar's car...which he took to work...) We had a very nice time. His parents got a room for a whole week, and invited us to come and spend the night Sunday night. We went right after church on Sunday, and had lunch with the whole family. Ruth cooked spaghetti for all of us, and we had cake and ice cream for Eric's birthday. We spent some time in the pool and played some games. It was a very nice, relaxing afternoon.

Monday Edgar had to go to work, so I got to spend the day with his parents. It was a real treat to just lay around and read, and talk to them. Ruth got up early and went for a walk along the beach. She came back with some of the biggest sea shells I've ever seen. We sat and talked for a long time out by the pool, and then went in for pancakes and eggs :) We spent the day laying around in the pool and watching a movie. Probably the highlight of the weekend was watching Edgar's parents trying to dunk each other in the pool. I was laughing pretty hard. Ruth, unfortunately, went under :) Then dad laid in a raft that was only about 1/8 filled, and I was cracking up watching him float...or maybe sink...I'm not exactly sure which it was.

After Edgar got home he and I went for a walk on the beach. The sky was amazing! There was a tropical storm moving in, so the clouds were really cool looking. You could see it raining in the distance, and the water was starting to get rough. Unfortunately, because of the tropical storm, everyone along the beach had to evacuate, so Edgar's parents packed up a few things and headed inland for the day, so we all left together. They should be able to return today, though, so they didn't miss too much of their vacation :)

All in all we had a wonderful time, didn't get too sunburned, and are back home ready to work all week :)

Cupcake mania

Finally putting all those cake decorating tips to good use! Ben and Carly came over on Friday and we spent some time decorating cupcakes. We had a good time--although, Ben lost interest quickly :) Carly decorated quite a few, and we ALL ate too much icing. (You don't even want to know what that icing is made of...) The final result is below...Hopefully you can tell the difference between the ones I decorated and the ones Ben & Carly did :) It was a lot of fun, and a moderate mess, but most 'fun stuff' generally is messy, right?!

On Saturday we had Krista, Eliud, Katie and Scott & Trish over to play games and eat way too much food. We had a really nice time, and got to see some of the Olympics. Then Krista destroyed everyone in a game of 'Settlers of Catan'. I can't believe how quickly Katie is growing up! She's working on getting pottie trained, and is talking so much now. It's amazing how quickly time goes by. The first time I even met Krista she was pregnant with Katie, and now she's almost 2!

On Sunday we went to church and then Edgar's parents came over for lunch and dad helped Edgar with the chair rail in the baby's room. CONSTRUCTION IS FINALLY BEGINNING! They measured it all out, and it is ready to be nailed up and painted. I will be sure to send pictures of the progress. I have a lot to do in the room, but I am excited to see how it all comes out.

Edgar also sanded down the armoire (can't guarantee the spelling on that word) so now it is ready to be painted white. After a hard day of work (well...except for me...) mom made some hot chocolate and we had grilled cheese sandwiches and hot chocolate for supper. The perfect end to a day!

Edgar and I watched the Olympics for a bit, and now we are headed off to bed. I will leave you with the newest picture of my ever growing belly...

And the Baby Grows...

Yes, I am joining the blogging bandwagon. I had great intentions of doing it before Renae, and even had my site up, I just hadn't posted anything...but alas, Renae got hers out first, so now I look like I'm a copy-cat. Oh well...You'll have to put up with my postings as well :)

There's really no hiding now, that I am carrying a giant. I have thoroughly enjoyed being pregnant...most of the time :) The 3 am bathroom trips leave much to be desired, but oh well. After a week of watching every calorie that I eat, and obsessing about gaining 18 pounds in 2 months, I have decided to chuck it all and just go back to enjoying the pregnancy. Now don't worry, I am trying to be reasonable as I make food choices, but I was starting to only think about food, and had quit thinking and praying for my baby...little Eli. (Yup, pretty sure that's his name, unless he comes out lookin' like a Placido or Carlos...or some other Tiger) He has been moving around so much lately! He seems like he rarely takes a break-he must have his father's energy. Fortunately, little keeps me from falling asleep at night, so he can move as much as he wants, I'll still go to sleep at night. We have our next Dr. appointment a week from Friday, so hopefully all is still well.

The last couple of days he has made me quite tired, and a little sick...I went to the dentist, and the poor hygenist had to stand and clean my teeth while I sat up, because I felt like I was going to be sick. She was pretty nice about it. Apparently I can no longer lay on my back without feeling quite sick. Yesterday he was treated to an Iced Marble Mocha from Seatle's Best Coffee...(decaf, of course) BOY DOES HE LIKE SUGAR!! I thought he was going to jump right out of me and do a dance on the table :) Edgar assures me Eli won't like junk food...I beg to differ...The other thing he seems to enjoy is music. He moves quite a bit when I am in worship team (perhaps because I stand right in front of the drums...) Hopefully he will be a music fan. He did, however sleep right through a recent Tigers game we went to...we're gonna have to work on that...

I do hope to get some video of my stomach moving around...you can see him when he kicks. It's pretty funny. It is a little hard to catch, though, so I might have to wait a few weeks.

Anyway, hopefully this will help keep you updated with our family. So here goes...my first post to my blog! YAHOO!
