Cousins

On Wednesday Katie came over to play. We loaded up the wagon and headed to the park! Lately Eli has been loving the swings...especially when he's got a pal right next to him!

Eli seemed content to just draw on the sidewalk. He stayed there and drew most of the time we were there.

Some Cookies, A Playground, and swimtime, oh my!

Today was a day full of fun activities. I finally finished Isaiah & Adriana's cookies, and today they got shipped off. I made Isaiah Sonic cookies. I didn't have a cookie cutter, so I used the template from HERE, followed the directions, and this is what I came up with.
I was a little worried that they would break on the trip, so I made a few like this...I hope they survive the trip :) These cookies are rather large...It took one whole batch of cookie dough to make a dozen Sonic cookies...Sounds good to me :)

Adriana got flower cookies. These are always fun to make :)

I got them packaged up and Jennifer was kind enough to take them to the Post Office for me, because Olivia came over today!

Eli loves playing with Olivia. She's so much fun :) We went to the park and played for about an hour and a half. The kids were filthy when we were done, but they had fun!

With all the slides, and fun things to play on at the playground, the kids had the most fun just playing in the sand :)

We got home and both kids got in the tub. Eli is not a huge fan of his bath, but he sure had fun having a friend play in the tub with him! This picture makes me laugh...they really do have diapers on...as soon as I got the diapers on, though, they took off to go play. They did eventually get dressed and had lunch. John & Christine came and got Olivia around noon.

Eli took about a 45 minute nap...maybe. He barely slept at all :( So he was up early this afternoon. We had fun cooking (well...I was cooking) and dancing. Jennifer gave Eli a Veggie Tales CD, and he loved it. I made Chicken Pot Pie, and he danced it the kitchen...I did a little dancin' too :) It was fun.

When Edgar got home we ate dinner, and then headed to the Rec. center. I took my camera (my point and shoot) but forgot to put a memory stick in it...kinda sad about that, because Eli had so much fun in the water. I think Edgar makes Eli brave :) He was walking all over in the water-sometimes without even holding daddy's hand! It was a fun 'adventure' for us this evening :)

Eli is now in bed, I cut Edgar's hair, and we're both typing away on our laptops...me doing this (obviously) and Edgar working. Aren't we wild on our Friday nights? :)

18 Months Old!

I can't believe that 18 months ago Edgar and I were HERE. It has gone by so fast! (I still go to this post all the time and watch the video of his first bath. Makes me tear up every time...)

It's been a great 18 months. He really is a great kid. Sometimes I wonder how we got so lucky to have such a great kid! I had big plans for taking Eli outside and getting some fun '18-month' pictures, but this is what I got instead: My little boy is sick...again :( He started running a fever last night before bed. He woke up at 3:30 am crying. So I sat up with him for a little while and gave him more medicine. Today he's been kinda fussy, and really only wants to watch TV...I gave him some medicine at 10:30 and he perked up and ate a good lunch, so that's good, but by 1:00 he was fairly miserable again. He's sleeping now...

Hopefully he'll get feeling better soon, and we'll try and get those '18-month pictures' :)

Happy Mother's Day!

I hope you all had a wonderful Mother's Day. Mine was wonderful. Growing up when I thought about what I wanted to be when I got older, I always 'just' wanted to be a mom. This little guy (and his little sister on the way!) has (not to sound cliche) made that dream come true :) He's such a good little boy!

Eliott & Krista weren't able to come over for lunch-Katie has been pretty sick, and Eric had to work, so Edgar got his mom all to himself today.

The moms :) Leilani came over a little later, and we forgot to get a picture of the three of us...

Edgar did a great job serving mom & I. He grilled chicken, and even baked a cake. I decorated it, but it was baked by him :)

He's so cute :) I love those little cloth diapers! I'm thinking about trying cloth with our next one...we'll see :)

Edgar played with Eli while Leilani and I talked. We didn't stay long...Eli wasn't acting himself :(

I can't believe I went the whole day and forgot to get a picture with Eli :( We had gotten all dressed up for church (Edgar even put his suit on!) so we could take a nice family picture, but Eli fell asleep on the way home, and Edgar had to grill, so we didn't get that either. Maybe we'll try again next Sunday :)

A figure skater?

Saturday I didn't really have any big plans, so when Jennifer called to see if Eli and I wanted to go to the rec. center to swim, we 'suited up' and headed on over. Last summer Eli did okay in the water......this summer he wasn't so sure. He was a disaster to start with. Screaming, clinging...you get the idea. He wanted nothing to do with the water.
Even with his cousin showing him how much fun it could be.

He was happy to just crawl away.

When Aunt Jenny tried to get him in, he desperately tried to keep his feet on the steps. (I promised Jennifer I'd crop her out of all pictures...so the random arms you see are hers...)

'Get me outta here!'

Not quite the Olympic swimmer we were hoping for :) So...perhaps swimming isn't his thing (ya know, at age 1...) Maybe figure skating? Certainly he'll be in the Olympics for SOMETHING, right?!

He did enjoy playing with the outdoor shower. Apparently that feels safer...

As time went on he seemed to get used to the water. He never got fully in, but finally relaxed enough to sit on the steps. He actually played and had fun for quite a while.

Carly was there to help entertain.

We decided to get passes to the rec. center, and I'm so glad we did. We've got all summer to get over the fear of water. I'm sure we'll be going there often!

We're still here :)

It's been a while since I've updated...it's been a busy couple of weeks. One week was spent getting the boys healthy. Eli had croup, and Edgar had a corneal abrasion. We didn't do much that week that was worth updating :)

This past week was the last week of classes, and it seemed like there was so much to do to wrap things up. I still have their exams to grade...It's something that will take 30 minutes to do, but I just can't seem to get around to it. Maybe tomorrow... On Wednesday we went to the mall to pick up a few things, and Eli got a chance to play in the play area. It has been SO hot here-the other day I drove by a sign that said the temp was 102...ugh. SO, playing outside has been a little hard. The mall play areas are a little crowded, but Eli loved running around.

Today Isaac came over to play. For some reason this picture reminds me of his daddy...crazy eyes and all :)

He's such a cutie!

I decided to be brave and go to a play date at the park with two kids. It wasn't too bad...we were late, but we made it there :) This is Eli playing with a straw he found on the ground. Gross. Who knows who used that...He also managed to pick up an old Capris Sun that was covered in dirt that he tried to drink out of...apparently ya gotta keep your eye on this one...

We had a nice shaded pavilion and most of the moms from the group were there.

Eli had a lunch of watermelon and a donut hole. Very nutritious. He ate a bunch of chicken for dinner, though, so I suppose that makes up for it :)

There really isn't much else going on here..other than planning a kitchen remodel of course :) It's busy, but that's alright. I can't believe I'm already 18 weeks pregnant! It's going by so fast! I've felt her move quite a bit lately. She's an active one. She also seems to be resting on some nerves or something...I keep getting 'leg jitteriness' (is that a word?) It's been keeping me up at night, and is very annoying. Oh well, I suppose. I'm also unbelievably hungry all the time...I'm so scared to see how much weight I've gained at my next appointment.

Anyway...that's about all. Oh...happy birthday mom and Krista :)
