A figure skater?

Saturday I didn't really have any big plans, so when Jennifer called to see if Eli and I wanted to go to the rec. center to swim, we 'suited up' and headed on over. Last summer Eli did okay in the water......this summer he wasn't so sure. He was a disaster to start with. Screaming, clinging...you get the idea. He wanted nothing to do with the water.
Even with his cousin showing him how much fun it could be.

He was happy to just crawl away.

When Aunt Jenny tried to get him in, he desperately tried to keep his feet on the steps. (I promised Jennifer I'd crop her out of all pictures...so the random arms you see are hers...)

'Get me outta here!'

Not quite the Olympic swimmer we were hoping for :) So...perhaps swimming isn't his thing (ya know, at age 1...) Maybe figure skating? Certainly he'll be in the Olympics for SOMETHING, right?!

He did enjoy playing with the outdoor shower. Apparently that feels safer...

As time went on he seemed to get used to the water. He never got fully in, but finally relaxed enough to sit on the steps. He actually played and had fun for quite a while.

Carly was there to help entertain.

We decided to get passes to the rec. center, and I'm so glad we did. We've got all summer to get over the fear of water. I'm sure we'll be going there often!

We're still here :)

It's been a while since I've updated...it's been a busy couple of weeks. One week was spent getting the boys healthy. Eli had croup, and Edgar had a corneal abrasion. We didn't do much that week that was worth updating :)

This past week was the last week of classes, and it seemed like there was so much to do to wrap things up. I still have their exams to grade...It's something that will take 30 minutes to do, but I just can't seem to get around to it. Maybe tomorrow... On Wednesday we went to the mall to pick up a few things, and Eli got a chance to play in the play area. It has been SO hot here-the other day I drove by a sign that said the temp was 102...ugh. SO, playing outside has been a little hard. The mall play areas are a little crowded, but Eli loved running around.

Today Isaac came over to play. For some reason this picture reminds me of his daddy...crazy eyes and all :)

He's such a cutie!

I decided to be brave and go to a play date at the park with two kids. It wasn't too bad...we were late, but we made it there :) This is Eli playing with a straw he found on the ground. Gross. Who knows who used that...He also managed to pick up an old Capris Sun that was covered in dirt that he tried to drink out of...apparently ya gotta keep your eye on this one...

We had a nice shaded pavilion and most of the moms from the group were there.

Eli had a lunch of watermelon and a donut hole. Very nutritious. He ate a bunch of chicken for dinner, though, so I suppose that makes up for it :)

There really isn't much else going on here..other than planning a kitchen remodel of course :) It's busy, but that's alright. I can't believe I'm already 18 weeks pregnant! It's going by so fast! I've felt her move quite a bit lately. She's an active one. She also seems to be resting on some nerves or something...I keep getting 'leg jitteriness' (is that a word?) It's been keeping me up at night, and is very annoying. Oh well, I suppose. I'm also unbelievably hungry all the time...I'm so scared to see how much weight I've gained at my next appointment.

Anyway...that's about all. Oh...happy birthday mom and Krista :)

Sick Day

The only good thing about getting sick is......you get as many popsicles as you want.

(In case you didn't know he was sick...which most people don't :) Eli's been running a fever all day :( He's congested, and tonight started holding his throat like it was sore. boooooo...daddy's not doing much better...Eli scratched Edgar's eye yesterday, and Edgar now has a cornea abrasion. Sounds terrible, huh? We went to the dr. today, and the doctor was very confident it should heal without trouble, but it's been a long day for Edgar...he can barely open his eye, poor guy. He'll probably be mad at me for putting all that on the blog...)

A busy Wednesday!

Wednesday Eli and I met some friends at the children's museum near where Edgar works. Eli had a great time running all over the place playing. They had a little fire station you could play in,
a fish tank,

an exhibit that showed sound waves,

and Eli's favorite :) This exhibit demonstrated the Bernoulli principle. I have no idea what that means, but air comes through the pipes, and the balls float in the air. Eli LOVED playing here! You can see his hair blowing in the wind :)

There was also a little grocery store set up. Eli has always wanted to push all the buttons at the grocery store-this was his big chance!

This was a cool exhibit. You hit those paddles on the tubes and they all 'play' different notes. Eli enjoyed banging on those.

We were also lucky enough to be there on a day and a time when they had a little music class. Eli loved it. All of the kids got to play musical instruments while a girl led some songs.

We went upstairs and Eli was completely distracted by the 'dance dance' exhibit...I have no idea what else was up there. He didn't want to leave the TV...

We left the museum a little after noon and met up with Edgar at Subway for lunch. It is always so fun to see daddy in the middle of the day :)

We got home and I put a cake in the oven, because...

...it was mom's birthday! We had the family over for dinner to celebrate.

It was kind of an impromptu gathering, so we didn't really have gifts ready, but Katie was on the ball, and had a little gift for her Abuela :)

It was such a fun day. I was tired at the end of the day, but it was all worth it :)

His only downfall is that he occasionally gets sidetracked by a phone conversation...

He's a little hard to get off the phone once he starts talking.

And when you take the phone away, he gets really mad...

He will eventually go back to work...sort of.

He likes to go to the very edge of his workspace,

but sometimes needs to be reminded not to 'cross the line'.

Don't worry...he'll go right back to the edge...

He's super cute,

Fun at the mall

It always makes the day go by so much better if Eli and I can get out in the morning and do something. Today we left at 10:20 (after I spilled coffee all over myself and had to completely change...) and went to the mall.

Eli had fun running around in the play area-though I think he liked the arcade better. He kept running out of the play area to go to the arcade...he's such a boy...

I don't know this little girl next to Eli, but I had to take a picture-her hair was AMAZING :)
Eli liked crawling through this...especially when mommy chased him through :)

Here's Eli 'playing' with another kid. He actually totally blocked him out intentionally so that he couldn't play with it. Someone needs to teach Eli how to share...

We came home and Eli took a nap while I mopped the floors. Then I vacuumed...and managed to break the lamp in the family room...GRRRRRR...oh well. The matching one broke in the move, so now our end tables match :)

An afternoon at Abuelito's house

Sunday afternoon I woke up from my nap with a call from Edgar. He had to go into work after church, but his mom had called him and told him that they were over at Abuelo's house, and Jutina (a family friend from New Jersey) was there too. So Eli and I went over for some fun. Edgar's Uncle Sammy was there too.
Eli decided to be highly entertaining. He kept clapping and talking. He was so funny.

Jutina had fun chasing Eli around-I think Eli's found a new pal :) I LOVE this picture-Eli running with his tounge out :)

Eli enjoyed Abuelo's cat too. He loves those crazy animals...too bad for him...

I took a couple of videos. They entertain me, so I thought I'd let you enjoy them.

Eli has been loving applauding himself lately. Anything he does he will clap for himself. It's pretty cute.


This second one is Eli with the cat. He was very interested in the cat food...

Hopefully we'll get back over there before Jutina goes back home!
